Meet Luke Henderson, the hair and makeup wizard who works with Bethenny getting her into glam and making sure the glam stays put all day and sometimes all night. If you have tuned into The Big Shot with Bethenny on HBO Max, you may have caught a few glimpses of Luke – especially in Episodes 3 and 4, where he chats behind the scenes with Bethenny as the “Skinny Shapewear Challenge” drama unfolds outside her dressing room.
We asked Luke to share the products he most prefers using on Bethenny – keep scrolling!
Eyebrows – HD Brows Brow and Eye Foxy Palette
Why Luke Loves It:
The pallet has 4 shades so depending on if it’s day or night I can use the appropriate colour. You can use an angled brush to make brow look strong.
I like to use darker on the outer edges and lighter in the centre and blend. I use the wax to comb up the brow to give it shape and definition on the last swipe with a mascara wand.
Cream Eyeshadow – Laying Low or Groundwork from M.A.C.
Why Luke Loves It:
The M.A.C. cream eyeshadows are a great base for any eyeshadow. They stop creasing so eyeshadow doesn’t look patchy.
Both shades are also strong foundations to a day smokey brown look. I often use these alone if Bethenny wants a very natural day glam look.
Eyeshadow – Too Faced Matte Neutral Eyeshadow Palette
Why Luke Loves It:
Matte eyeshadow is great for anybody who doesn’t want a crèped look when applied.
The Too Faced palette accentuates the eye without taking any attention away from Bethenny’s stunning green eyes.
Eyeliner – Rock ‘n’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil in Barbarella Brown from Charlotte Tilbury
Why Luke Loves It:
The Charlotte Tilbury kohl pencils smudge and blend very well. Nobody wants an eyeliner that looks too harsh. These have nice movement which I love for Bethenny’s eyes.
Most people will choose black over brown but brown makes blue and green eyes pop and is softer for daytime use.
Lashes – Ardell Double Up 113
Why Luke Loves It:
The 113 double up by Ardel have a fluttery natural pretty lash effect.
The lashes open Bethenny’s eyes and accent their shape. They are longer on the outer edges to give a round eye a more feline look.
Face Primer – Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
Why Luke Loves It:
Smashbox for me is Number 1 in primer – I have used it for 10+ years. It’s great for patches that get shiny when makeup is worn for a few hours – nose, forehead and chin are the most common culprits.
The product has a velvety finish and when foundation is applied over the top, the foundation glides on more easily. It gives skin a photo finish look – like the skin has been airbrushed.
Foundation – Beauty Blender – Click Here to Shop
Why Luke Loves It:
The Beauty Blender foundation has a long staying power and stays on, which when filming is a must.
24 hour staying power that is buildable. I build to go from day to night makeup.
Concealer – M.A.C. Nc20
Why Luke Loves It:
This concealer has a great yellow/peach undertone. For anybody with darker olive tones under eyes, it helps to balance the tone.
The concealer also doesn’t tend to get creases and stays moist which I love.
Contour – M.A.C. Studio Perfecting Stick
The perfect contouring stick, I use NC50 – its creamy, moveable consistency is perfect to shade the face.
I use around the hairline, under cheekbones and when I contour Bethenny’s nose
Blusher – Nars – Torrid
Why Luke Loves It:
Bethenny and I love a coral blusher. This Nars one has a coral tone and also shimmer so gives the face a light, highlighted look to it.
Using coral blusher with green eyes helps the eye colour pop. If I use this blusher, I don’t need to use highlighter on cheekbones.
Bronzer – Too Faced Contour Palette – Click Here to Shop
Why Luke Loves It:
My favourite go to bronzer pallet, 6 shades so depending on area or how sun tanned Bethenny is we can choose a colour.
I like that it’s matte too so it isn’t all sparkly and gives the face a sun kissed look.
Lip Liner – Natasha Denona in Medium Nude – Click Here to Shop
Why Luke Loves It:
The lipliner shade is perfect for any nude, browny, nudey pink as a base and I use over the lines of lips to make them look bigger. It’s an illusion.
I have used this liner and then used a clear lipgloss as the colour is perfect!
Lipstick / Lip Stain – Sephora Collection in Desert Sand – Click Here to Shop
Why Luke Loves It:
Desert Sand has the best undertone. It’s a little mucky looking and often people do not pick these tones. Again these tones are great for anybody who has done a strong eye. The lip colour is the perfect browny nude.
I often use a darker lip liner with this and then use this in the middle of the lips.
Powder to seal makeup – M.A.C. Blotting Powder in Medium
Why Luke Loves It:
My go to sealing makeup powder. It gives a non shine look – not a layer cake look which we try to avoid.
It is light in consistency and when used on a shoot never builds to a caked feel. Nobody wants a layer cake look – ever!
