Like with clothing, Bethenny doesn’t believe in busting the bank when it comes to makeup and makeup tools. She believes in buying what you like, and less is more. In Bethenny’s words, “the more crap you have, the more it expires and no amount of makeup is going to make you ‘pretty'”. So Bethenny tells us to buy what you like, and to beware of marketing and packaging designed to suck you into buying a higher-priced version of a perfectly good basic. Some products are definitely worth the splurge, but know that you can absolutely find something amazing that’s either a ‘high’ or a ‘low’.

Today we asked Bethenny to share her favorite eyeshadows at different price points. Bethenny owns all of these palettes and rotates between them depending on her mood.

  1. Paradise Enchanged by L’Oreal – this is one of Bethenny’s favorite drugstore (lower-priced) finds. It offers a great range of neutrals, mattes, and metallics and is a great value. Plus it’s lightly fruit-scented!

2. Profusion Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette – also affordably-priced, another great value palette that Bethenny loves, offering amazing pigment at the lower end of the market.

3. Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette – a bit pricier but the pigments are gorgeous and universally flattering, long-lasting, and easy to blend.

4. Too Faced Clover Palette – this is for when you perhaps just got a promotion, won the lottery, or recently discovered that you have a significant inheritance. This palette is as cute as it is functional – with 18 shades that run the gamut between matte and shimmer, neutral and colorful. Bonus: listen to Bethenny’s interview with Too Faced founder Jerrod Blandino here.

The good news is that you really can’t go wrong whether you’re standing in the aisle of Sephora, your local drugstore, or getting lost down an Amazon rabbithole!
