I never planned on being an entrepreneur. I didn’t go to business school, I had no idea what an entrepreneur was, and I didn’t have any major success until my late thirties. But somewhere along the way, I built a brand, made millions, and learned some lessons that anyone in business can use.

These are the five biggest lessons I’ve learned about business, success, and making sh*t happen.

1. Stop Waiting for the Perfect Time and Just START

Talk is cheap. Everyone has an idea, but very few take the leap to make it happen. If you’re waiting for the perfect moment, stop. It doesn’t exist. The only way to build something real is to start. That doesn’t mean you should quit your job recklessly if you have responsibilities, but it does mean you should be taking action toward your goal every single day. Success is about consistent effort, not waiting for the stars to align.

🔹 Real talk: The people who actually succeed? They don’t sit around dreaming—they get to work. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s not perfect. Start now, adjust as you go.

2. Be Ready at Any Given Moment

I’ve interviewed countless business moguls, and we all agree on one thing: luck plays a role, but you have to be ready when it shows up. Imagine standing in a river full of fish. If you don’t have a net, a sturdy boat, and the right mindset, you won’t catch anything. Preparation is key. You don’t need a perfect plan, but you need to be working toward something so that when opportunity knocks, you’re ready to open the door.

🔹 Real talk: If someone offered you your dream opportunity tomorrow, would you be ready to say yes? If not, get to work.

3. Nothing is Beneath You

You don’t need to know exactly what you’re doing, and guess what? No one else does either. The key is to trust the process. Whatever job you have right now, do it with excellence. Every experience teaches you something valuable. I’ve done everything from serving drinks to cleaning houses, and each job gave me skills and discipline that I later used to build my empire. Nothing is beneath you. If you think it is, you’re not ready for success.

🔹 Real talk: You want to run a business? Learn to do the unglamorous sh*t first. That’s where the real lessons are.

4. Know When to Walk Away

Not every idea is a good idea, and not everything has to be pushed through. Whether it’s a business deal, a bad hire, or a toxic relationship, knowing when to cut your losses is crucial. Holding onto the wrong things drains your energy and resources. If something isn’t working, pivot or walk away. You are only as strong as your weakest link, and if something is dragging you down, it’s got to go.

🔹 Real talk: You are only as strong as your weakest link, and if something is dragging you down, it’s got to go.

5. Keep Your Circle Tight

Your brand is your reputation, and not everyone deserves access to you. Keep your circle small and your business strategy even tighter. Don’t over-network or over-share. Not everyone needs to know your plans, because the more people know, the more opinions, judgments, and complications arise. Stay focused on what matters, and don’t get distracted by shiny objects that don’t align with your long-term goals.

Making your first million isn’t about luck or a perfect strategy — it’s about action, resilience, and knowing when to pivot. The world is full of opportunities, but they don’t mean anything if you’re not prepared to take them. Get out there, trust the process, do the work, and make it happen. If I did it, so can you.

🔹 Real talk: The right people will find you when you’re focused and executing your vision.

Final Thoughts: How to Build Real Success

Making your first million isn’t about luck, privilege, or a perfect strategy—it’s about taking action, staying resilient, and knowing when to pivot.

The world is full of opportunities, but opportunities mean nothing if you’re not prepared to take them.

So here’s what you need to do:

✔️ Start now. No more waiting.
✔️ Be ready when luck shows up.
✔️ Put in the work—even when it’s unglamorous.
✔️ Walk away from what isn’t serving you.
✔️ Protect your energy and your vision.

If I did it, so can you. Now go make it happen.
